Alaska Christian College
First Covenant’s relationship with the mission to Alaska began several years ago when two short-term missionaries from the church began a ministry to the native population in the village of Hooper Bay. The relationship has continued with Alaska Christian College and its mission of “preparing young people for whole life discipleship.” Located in beautiful Soldotna, AK, Alaska Christian College seeks to transform the lives of native young Alaskans. Teams from First Covenant travel annually to ACC to continue the ongoing campus construction work to meet the growing needs of the college.
Founded by First Covenant members Keith & Darla Ruiz, Alongside Missions is a ministry model that empowers native churches and comes alongside them to support them in their ministry, rather than to advance our own agenda. The Ruizes have led countless teams in trips to Mexico and Ukraine to build ongoing relationships with churches there.
For over 10 years, First Covenant has been building a relationship with a group of churches in and around Valle Hermoso, near Matamoros. Through the years, many short-term teams from First Covenant have gone to support this on-going relationship.
Working in conjunction with Alongside Missions, First Covenant has been involved with a mission to Kalivnoka, Ukraine (just outside of Kiev) since 1999. The first part of the mission was to assist the local church there in constructing its first building. Now First Covenant comes alongside the church in Kalivnoka as they reach out to their village and other villages around the country of Ukraine.
